Flow Sensors for Gases, Steam and Liquids |
Accurate measurement of flows may prove to be difficult
and time consuming and may also require a great expenditure
of energy.
The ITABAR sensor was developed to serve as a highly
reliable instrument to measure liquids, gases and steam.
It is distinguished by many advantages over other measuring
systems.
Itabar sensors generate a differential pressure (dp)
between upstream and downstream sides. This pressure
differential is measured and converted into a flow signal.
Due to the Itabar sensor design permanent pressure loss
at the measuring point is very low compared to other
dp based systems (e.g. orifice, venturi). A further
advantage is the ease of the sensor installation. The
standard Itabar version simply requires tapping the
pipe, welding on an assembly sleeve and inserting the
sensor.
The Itabar also comes in a flo-tap version, which allows
installation and removal of the sensor under pressure.
Applications for ITABAR sensors range from batch control,
flow measurement of liquids in the chemical industry
to measurement of fuel, air, steam or gas as the primary
source of energy. ITABARS are used for demanding tasks
such as high volume flow measurement as well as important
process control applications requiring a high degree
of stability and reproducibility. They can be installed
in round pipes or rectangular ducts ranging in size
from 25 mm to 12 m (1 inch up to 470 inches). The maximum
allowable flow velocity is 10 m/s for liquids, 200 m/s
for gases and 60 m/s for steam.
